Welcome to My Piano Studio
I founded Piano Kats LLC as a place where young children, kids, high schoolers, and adults alike could learn to play the piano at a high level and cultivate a genuine love for music. You’ll learn more than a few tunes on the piano or party tricks — we will dig into musical interpretation, music history, music theory, and equip you with the tools you need to learn and appreciate music independently. If you’d like more information about my teaching methodology, or if you’d like to schedule a lesson, please get in touch!

Private and Group Piano Lessons in Warren County
Welcome to Piano Kats Music Education
I am so glad you are here. Piano Kats is a collaborative and creative piano studio in Maineville, Ohio. I offer group based and partner based piano lessons that help students grow with confidence, motivation, and joy.
My studio uses a sustainable and research supported model where students learn through a mix of partner lessons and scheduled group lessons throughout the year. This has become the most successful and joyful format I have ever taught, and it is the heart of my studio culture.
Families choose Piano Kats because students receive meaningful one on one instruction, supportive partner learning, energetic group classes, steady progress through accountability, and opportunities for creativity and ensemble skills.
Buddy Lessons
Buddy lessons, also known as Partner Lessons, pair two students of similar age or level together for a lively and supportive 45 minute lesson.
This format blends individual instruction, partner rotations, performance practice, ear training, creative challenges, and collaborative work.
Buddy lessons help students stay motivated, practice more consistently, feel supported by a peer, build confidence through partnership, and enjoy a more balanced and positive piano experience.
Parents often share that buddy lessons are the perfect mix of structure, fun, and accountability. Many families love the natural teamwork that develops.
Group Piano Weeks
Group lessons take place throughout the year and are built into the curriculum for every Piano Kats student. These classes are scheduled at key times to support skill development, ensemble experiences, and overall excitement about music.
During group weeks students enjoy ensemble playing, multi station learning, ear training activities, rhythm games, improvisation, creativity, performance skills, and a strong sense of community.
Group learning supports stronger practice habits, reduced performance anxiety, deeper musical understanding, and a joyful studio environment that students look forward to.
LIMITED TRADITIONAL PRIVATE LESSONS
Because my studio prioritizes collaborative learning, traditional private lessons are very limited. They are offered only when a student’s learning style or long term goals require consistent individual pacing.
These lessons still include technique, reading, ear training, repertoire, and creative exploration. However, most students thrive best in the partner and group model.
MUSIC THEORY AND HOMESCHOOL CLASSES
For students who want to understand music more deeply, I offer separate music theory classes designed for homeschool families, AP Music Theory preparation, early interest in music degrees, and ABRSM or RCM exam support.
These classes help students understand music at a higher level while keeping learning engaging and approachable.

Specific Musical Concepts You Can Learn
My piano students gain a well-rounded knowledge of the piano and music in general. The following list is not exhaustive; if you have any specific questions or requests, let me know.
Learn To Play With Good Technique
Things like hand position, posture, and the absence of tension in the arms and shoulders is more important than many new pianists realize. I help my students with all of the above, right from our first lesson. Good technique leads to:
The ability to play with greater speed over time
The ability to play with greater dynamic contrast and tone
Avoidance of injury, carpal tunnel, and other common issues among pianists
Learn To Read Music
I’ve been studying pedagogy for many years, and I have methods, games, drills and more that help my students learn to read music fluently. This starts with identifying notes on the staff and the keyboard, but you will be amazed as your reading skills evolve. Eventually, you’ll be able to sight read Bach, Chopin, Beethoven, pop songs and more. This can also unlock the ability to collaborate with other musicians or work as an accompanist.
Learn Musicianship
You and your audience will appreciate piano music more when it’s played expressively. We practice dynamic contrast, musical interpretation, and skills like voicing the melody line. We also engage in ear training, and when paired with my students’ knowledge of music theory, this practice can help students learn to improvise and even write music.
Keen Sense of Rhythm
Pianists, vocalists and other classical musicians often get a reputation for being liberal with tempo and rhythm. The musician may chalk this up to rubato, but very often, this is simply because the musician has not developed a strong sense of rhythm. From day one, my piano students learn to FEEL their inner pulse, count and maintain tempo. We will learn quarter notes, half notes, whole notes, and more, and you will be able to identify time signatures.
There is So Much More to Learn
Learning the piano is a journey. I will be with you from the beginning, introducing new concepts in a logical and attainable manner. As you improve, we can start working on intermediate and advanced piano literature, learn the art of selecting music for auditions and competitions, and anything else you would like to pursue.
